Graduate Fees

Tuition and other fees at Sabancı University are determined each year by the Board of Trustees on an annual basis. Each year fee increase rate for current students; will not exceed the %5 of the tuition fees specified on the basis of US dollars according to the entrance years to the university and the increase rate for tuition fees specified on the basis of TL, can be parallel to the inflation rate of the year before.

Annual tuition fee and dormitory fee should be paid in two equal installments prior to registering for fall and spring semester. Information Technology (IT), Finance (MIF), Energy Technologies and Management (ETM), Nanotechnology (NANOT), Data Analytics (DA-NT) and Brand Practice (BP) master's programs are designed as three semesters, therefore fees for these programs are paid in three installments, whereas Executive MBA master's programs are designed as four semesters, therefore fees for these programs are paid in four installments. The tuition fee for each term can be paid in three equal installments during the period or periods as early in advance. Within the cooperation of University and  Akbank cooperation, tuition fees may be paid in installments. Installments are only for tuition fees.  There is no possibility of installment for the students registered in Executive MBA, Information Technology, Finance, Energy Technologies and Management, Nanotechnology, Data Analytics and Brand Practice for the parts paid by the institutions they are affiliated.

The average * of Turkish Central Bank's official exchange selling rate is taken for calculation of the fees based on US dollars in translation to TL. First installment (Fall term) is in the first week of August, second installment (Spring term) is in the first week of January and the third installment (Summer term) is in the first week of May is taken into consideration.

(*) Average exchange rate is calculated like; exchange rates of the five working days of the relevant weeks are added, the highest and the lowest exchange rate of the relevant week is subtracted from the total sum and arithmetic average of this total sum is taken.

The minimum graduate degree requirements are given in the Graduate Studies Instruction Letter and summarized below: These general rules are exercised in accordance with each Faculty's program specific degree requirements

Masters Degree Requirements

A Master's study offers two degree track options specified as "Master's with Thesis" and "Master's without Thesis".

  • Degree requirements for Master's with Thesis:
    Graduate program with thesis consists of 7 credit-courses, non-credit courses and a thesis that totals to a minimum of 21 credits. The courses should be completed in maximum 4 semesters, while the program must be completed in 6 semesters.
  • Degree requirements for Master's without Thesis:
    Graduate program without thesis consists of 10 credit-courses that totals to not less than 30 credits and a non-credit semester project course. The program should be completed in maximum 6 semesters.
  • Joint Degree requirements without Thesis:
    Double Degree Master's Program consists of 20 credit-courses (10 courses from each discipline) that total to a minimum of 60 credits. In addition to course requirements, students must complete a non-credit project. The program must be completed maximum in 6 semesters. 

    Ph.D. Requirements:

    PhD program consists of 7 credit-courses that totals to a minimum of 21 credits for students admitted with master's degree. Furthermore, PhD program consists of at least 14 credit-courses with 42 credits, doctoral qualifying exam, thesis proposal and thesis for students admitted with bachelor's degree. 
    Students admitted with master's degree should complete the courses in maximum 4 semesters and the program should be completed in maximum 8 semesters.
    Students admitted with bachelor's degree should complete the courses in maximum 6 semesters and the program should be completed in maximum 10 semesters. 
    If the Ph.D. students, admitted with master's degree who can not complete their thesis in 8 semesters, can take 4 additional semester. If the Ph.D. students, admitted with bachelor's degree who can not complete thesis in 10 semesters can take 4 additional semesters, too. These students must have been successful in PhD Qualifying Exam and their thesis proposal must have been accepted.

Admission conditions for each graduate program offered by Sabancı University are determined by the respective graduate schools in line with the specific requirements of the program. The application process is as follows: Documents submitted to the University go through a screening process. The prospects meeting the minimum application criteria are called for a written exam and/or an interview. The Admission Commitee then decides which students to be admitted, and the students are informed accordingly.
